Your tattoo was carefully created by a professional. For a top quality tattoo, the rest is up to you. Please follow these few, simple care instructions to ensure the best possible results for you and your tattoo.
DO NOT PICK AT OR SCRATCH HEALING TATTOO.
We will know if you pick. Your artist always knows!
8. Remember: everyone reacts differently to inks, colors, and processes, and everyone heals differently. What may work for you may not work for everyone and your artist will be able to work closely with you to offer professional advice and direction to give you the best artwork possible.
9. Allow the tattoo to heal for 30-45 days before scheduling a touch-up. One complimentary touch-up will be provided, and any additional touch-ups will start at a shop minimum price of $80 and increase as the involvement of the touch-up increases.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Weeping is normal for the first few days (which may stain clothing), as is itching, slight redness, slight bruising, peeling and scabbing. Your unscented lotion will help manage itching, but do not oversaturate your tattoo with lotion.
You may notice your tattoo starting to flake, or small bits of colored skin may shed. This does NOT mean your tattoo is “coming out” or “fading,” it is part of the healing process. It may not look as “crisp” as it did in the first few days and may appear “hazy,” but this is normal as your tattoo heals. It should clear up in about 2 weeks when the new ink has settled. REMEMBER: Let scabs detach naturally, avoid pulling and picking scabs and skin as this causes scarring, ink loss, and potential infection risk.
PROTECTION FROM THE SUN
Once your tattoo is fully healed you will need to ALWAYS protect it from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The sun will fade and damage a brilliant tattoo very quickly. Before spending excessive amounts of time in the sun it is important to protect your tattoo with a minimum 30SPF sunblock. Following these simple steps will keep your tattoo, and investment, looking vibrant for years to come.
RISK OF STAPH INFECTION
If you think your tattoo might be infected, don’t wait for it to get worse! Signs of infection are severe pain, hot redness, swelling and/or a pus discharge with or without the presence of blood, or a foul/offensive odor emanating from the area, red lines coming from the tattoo wound, and fever. Infection that is not properly tended to can result in serious health consequences and even death. It is not something to be taken lightly. Immediately proceed to the hospital if the signs of infection persist. We are all susceptible to Staph Infections as the bacteria staphylococcus aureus naturally resides on our skin and environment that lets it thrive and multiply, such as a new tattoo or piercing.
We Hope You Love Your New Tattoo as Much as We Loved Doing It! Thank You and Happy Healing!
